Looking back can also open up perspectives for the future. Against the backdrop of climate change and the finite nature of natural resources, SPP 2255 emphasizes the importance of mindful conversion and further construction as an ecologically highly effective alternative to new construction.

The SPP 2255 aims to increase historical knowledge, deepen reflection and refine methods as an elementary basis for the urgently needed valorization and further development of the cultural heritage of construction by new, interdisciplinary actors.
