Prof. Dr. Michael Prange is an analytical chemist and materials scientist. He is Professor of Applied Materials Science, Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science and Vice President for Research, Development and Transfer at the Georg Agricola University of Applied Sciences.
Materials and Conservation Sciences and the Research Laboratory of the German Mining Museum Bochum, Leibniz Research Museum for Georesources.
His research focuses on material ageing and corrosion (protection), damage analysis of metals and plastics as well as trace element and isotope analysis.
He was in charge of designing the Master’s degree program “Material Engineering and Industrial Heritage Conservation”, which started at the THGA in winter semester 2021/2022, and is head of various research projects on the preservation of industrial and cultural heritage.
