Impulse meeting for the second funding phase of SPP 2255

The second of the two three-year funding periods of SPP 2255 began at the start of 2024. In the first funding phase, eleven interdisciplinary sub-projects investigated different aspects of cultural heritage construction from 2021 to 2023 and exchanged views on its overarching aspects in numerous workshops. For the second funding phase, eight sub-projects were selected last year to continue their work in SPP 2255. Four of these build on topics from the first funding phase, while the other four sub-projects expand the spectrum and enrich the SPP 2255 with completely new research questions.

An impulse meeting from May 15 to 17, 2024 offered the opportunity to get to know each other and layed the first foundations for future, cross-project undertakings. On May 15, the project staff (doctoral students and post-docs) from the different sub-projects gathered at the central campus of BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg for a workshop that served as a starting point for a continuation of the successful “Common Ground” series from the first funding period. The following day at the Kunstmuseum Dieselkraftwerk was dedicated to the mutual exchange of all participants in SPP 2255 on their respective research projects and information on the possibilities of cross-project initiatives in SPP 2255. Finally, May 17 was dedicated to interdisciplinary exchange and the initiation of joint workshops of various sub-projects. On the site of the former Cottbus-Nord airfield, various discussion formats provided the necessary space for this – alternately in large groups in the former aircraft hangar 3 and in small groups in the former tower building of the INIK planning office.

The aim of the three-day event was to provide the participants in SPP 2255 with a bundle of new impressions and ideas for further work, so that the second funding phase of the priority program 2255 “Cultural Heritage Construction” can also produce rich and stimulating results, both in the sub-project work and at the overall level.
